GEN 2 RS232 ONLY Firmware update (OLD TYPE)
Firmware update for the GEN 2 RS232 is different than the GEN 2 universal. In the GEN2 RS232 we are required to connect two COM serial connections the COM 9 and COM 2. The serial connection has 4 connector ports that is required to be connected.
Firmware update: we have to press on the power button of the GEN 2 and then we turn on the control switch. This process gives us the required firmware designated for the GEN 2. The firmware required for the update was GRUSA4100.
Baud rate: The designated baud rate used is 48300. In order to perform the right baud rate, we are required to turn of the first terminal on the GEN2 and the second one should be switched to on.
Software tool used: GEN 2 RS232 requires an older tool than the GEN 2 universal for firmware update. The tool used is the FLI DOWNLOADER. The steps to use the tool requires us to press on the COM 9 and start the download. The downloading process takes 5 minutes in order to be completed. After it has been completed, it is important for the GEN 2 to print a test ticket by itself that contains all the important specifications as well as the right firmware.
Important note: always set up the paper in the printer before stating the download. Otherwise, connection error could happen.
Error encountered: 3 GEN 2 232 encountered a connection error that made the devices not usable. The fault was called SFL File. This type of error shows the ticket being printed nonstop after the firmware update is completed. In principle, a correct update and installation process only prints one ticket.
Final Check: After the correct installation of the firmware with the right check marks. The steps to print the self-check ticket requires important steps which includes:
Removing the com9 cable.
Turning off the control switch.
Pressing on the power button and immediately turning on the control switch.
These steps enable us to print.
